Chris caught our attention when he sported a Southern Tide sport shirt on American Idol. And he caught our ears too. Chris is a talented musician and current student at Ole Miss. We contacted him to get the scoop on his interests and music endeavors.
Q-How long have you been playing music?
A- I've been into music my whole life. Growing up I would always be singing, whether it was around the house or in my parent’s car. I started playing guitar when I was in 7th grade.
Q-When did you decide to audition for American Idol?
A- I actually decided to try out for American Idol the week before they came to St. Louis in 2011. I was taking a class that summer so I had to take my tests early just so I could make it home to audition.
Q-What were you wearing to your audition?
A- I was wearing my lucky hat, a pair of blue jeans and my favorite Southern Tide sport shirt
Q-What type of music do you play? Do you just sing or do you play an instrument too?
A- I play guitar and sing, and I perform all types of music. In my sets I play everything from Michael Jackson to Afroman, and Lynyrd Skynyrd to Garth Books.
Q-What have you been up to since American Idol?
A- Since American Idol I have been going to school, and I recently moved down to Nashville for the summer, where I'll be writing and getting into the studio for my first CD.
Q- Are you on tour? If so, please provide a link to your tour schedule.
A- I am not currently on tour but you can always check out where I'll be playing at www.chrisbandi.com
Q - What is your favorite Southern Tide item?
A - I'm still waiting for the Ole Miss Collegiate Polo to come out. But as of now my favorite would have to be their sport shirts. You can never go wrong in a good-looking button down!
Q - Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A - In five years I want to be playing music as often as I can. I hope to be headlining tours of my own as well as opening for major names in music today!
